Identifying Opportunities in Economic & Regulatory Trends

Economic Trends

Why I believe the information suggests that an opportunity exists: Sending money is expensive as a percentage of the transaction across borders
Who would be the prototypical customer: A person that wanted to move money out of the country, to Mexico, Europe or Asia
Is the opportunity relatively difficult or easy to exploit and why: The opportunity is not easy to exploit. Regulatory hurdles, IT expertise, and expensive computer equipment are just some of the tools necessary to take advantage of the opportunity.
How did I see the opportunity: I listen to a lot of podcasts and my friend who wanted to buy some crypto treated me to a couple of trips where we could meet people who were investors and enthusiasts in the space. I had a lot of fun.

The growth of healthcare and improving access to services

Where I found it: I work in the field
Why I believe the information suggests that an opportunity exists: Everyone needs healthcare
Who would be the prototypical customer: Literally every human
Is the opportunity relatively difficult or easy to exploit and why: It is relatively easy to exploit from a sales perspective. From a provider perspective it would be difficult and very expensive because a doctor needs 8 years of education, a 4-year residency, and continuous training and certification.
How did I see the opportunity: I have been a licensed insurance agent for 20 years. I currently work with seniors with Medicare and those who are eligible to receive subsidies to purchase health coverage.

Regulatory Trends

Advertising

Where I found it: Online
Why I believe the information suggests that an opportunity exists: Advertising is essential to run a successful business. Helping businesses comply with government regulations regarding the industry would seem to be potentially very lucrative.
Who would be the prototypical customer: Small businesses that do not have compliance departments
Is the opportunity relatively difficult or easy to exploit and why: It is relatively easy to exploit because it is not necessarily capital intensive
How did I see the opportunity: I was interested in doing some marketing to my current insurance clients and I wanted to make sure that I did things compliantly

Legalization of Medical and Non-Medical Marijuana

Where I found it: The local news, internet and podcasts
Why I believe the information suggests that an opportunity exists: The demand for marijuana is extremely high
Who would be the prototypical customer: A person on chemotherapy, recreational user, anyone ages 18-80
Is the opportunity relatively difficult or easy to exploit and why: It is very difficult to exploit, you need capital for space and product, licensing costs millions
How did I see the opportunity: It’s kind of hard to miss this opportunity. So many newspaper articles, TV news reports and internet articles about medical marijuana are around. And legalize of the medical leads to legalization of non-medical.
